In my opinion, ODST will be worth it. I love the campaign in all three Halo games, and ODST's single player looks like a fresh take on something that was already great.

I have Xbox Live, and in an Inside Xbox update video that was advertised, Major Nelson stated that the Elite is $299.99, the Pro model is $249.99, and the Arcade model is still $199.99.
I have no clue where the rumor came from that they increased the price on the arcade model, that would put it at near the same price as the Pro model that comes with a hard drive, the logic in the rumor is indeed flawed.

An "unbiased consumer" sounds like a smart one. A smart consumer will choose the console that has the games he likes the most. Halo 3 had a 10 million advertising budget, not 30 million. Nice try, bud. 10 million is nothing compared to what hollywood films spend on advertising, and Halo 3 grossed more money on its opening day then any blockbuster film has ever made in an entire weekend. Face it, the game is a great FPS, otherwise, it still wouldnt be one of the top played games on Xbox Live 2 years after release, and it still wouldnt be selling thousands of copies a week.
Halo is Art. Not only is the games artistic design amazing, but the fact that any gamer can go into forge and theater mode and make some truly great screenshots is something no other console game can touch. If you take a picture, paint, draw, sculpt, etc, and it is genuine to the maker, it is art.

You may as well ask if Star Wars has gone too far over the past 30 years. If theres a demand for lots of spin offs and merchandise, why not? this was confirmed months ago, and the Halo 3 campaign was great. Halo 1 suffered from repetitive level design and a thin but still great story, which Halo 2 and Halo 3 addressed and succeeded with. The story is very in-depth for anyone who cares to explore it for longer than 10 seconds. Ive played and loved the series for 8 years now so i'd like to think i somewhat know what im talking about.

Mass Effect pulled off an insane cinematic experience without any quicktime events at all.
